practice identifying and applying meanings of prefixes, roots and suffixes as a strategy to define unkbown words.
Procedures:
Copy HW into agenda
Bell work: MUG Shot from Friday’s Bonus question
Return WW. U1P2 post-test (discuss answer to bonus question/MUG Shot)
Take U1P2 pre-test –check answers or collect
Students who earn 100% on pretest will be offered alternate assignments to complete in place of workbook pages. Due Thursday still.
Complete pages 12-13 independently. Distribute “Word Wisdom—List of Roots, Prefixes and Suffixes” graphic organizer— Complete 5 boxes (prefixes on page 15 and roots on page 14) together.
Remind students of context clue strategy for this unit: “Look for the Location or Setting”
Take notes on “Short Story Elements (for any short story)” following along with PowerPoint.
HW:

Independently read page 12 and complete “Rikki-tikki-tavi BEFORE YOU READ” handout
Continue working on Word Wisdom roots list and pages 13-15, if needed/if time.

Check HW: Pages 13-15 in WW book.Correct answers together,
